a. Overview
We value our customers and respect their privacy.
We collect customer information in an effort to improve your
purchasing experience and to communicate with you about our
products, services, contests and promotions. We do not sell
or rent your personal information to third parties. As described
in this policy, we do, however, share your information with
our affiliates and under certain circumstances, with third
parties that provide services on our behalf or with whom we
have partnered to offer a particular product or service.
This policy describes the personal information
we collect about you, why we collect it, how we use it and
when we share it with third parties. Our policy also describes
the choices you can make about how we collect and use your
information.
|
b. Information
Collection and Use
We collect information, such as name, e-mail and
postal addresses, phone and credit card information from you
when you visit our website, place an order online, register
your information with us online, or participate in a contest,
promotion or survey. Europacafe.com is the sole owner of the
information collected on this site. We will not sell, share,
or rent this information to others in ways different from
what is disclosed in this statement.
|
c. Registration
and Ordering
In order to use this website, a user must complete the registration
form. By becoming a member, the customer is entitled to a
number of benefits. During registration a user is required
to give their contact information, which is used to contact
the user about the services on our site for which they have
expressed interest.
Europacafe.com also requests information
from the user on our order form. When you place an order from
us, we use your personal information to process your order,
send you e-mails to confirm your order or to contact you via
phone, postal mail or e-mail if we have other questions regarding
your order. A user must provide contact information and financial
information. This information is used both for billing purposes
and to fill the user's order.
|
d. Cookies and Log Files
A cookie is a small data file
that websites often store on your computer's hard drive when
you visit their sites. A cookie may contain information, such
as a unique user ID that websites use to track the pages of
the sites you've visited. We use cookies in order to improve
your shopping experience. Cookies enable us to keep track
of your order as you shop on our site.
You can refuse cookies by turning them off
in your browser. If you turn off cookies, though, we will
not be able to track your order to enable you to purchase
from our site. Nor will we be able to recognize you as a registered
user, which allows you to access your account information.
We use a third-party tracking service that
uses cookies [log files] to track non-personally identifiable
information about visitors to our site. The log files are
then used to analyze trends, administer the site, track customer
click-path and gather broad demographic information for aggregate
use. The information collected (technology [browser, operating
system, monitor resolutions], finding methods [referrals,
search engine], traffic data [visitor metrics]) are also used
to aid us in future site designs for optimal efficiency and
customer usability. IP Addresses are not linked to personally
identifiable information.
|
e. Sharing
From time to time we might share aggregated demographic
information with our partners and advertisers. This is not
linked by any way to any personal information that can identify
any individual person. We use a credit card processing company
to bill users for goods and services. This company does not
retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information
for any secondary purpose.
We reserve the right to disclose your personally
identifiable information as required by law and when we believe
that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or
comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process
served on our Web site.
|
f. Surveys & Contests
From time-to-time our site requests information
from users via surveys or contests. When we offer contests
and promotions, with or without a marketing partner, you may
be required to provide certain personal information in order
to participate. Participation in these surveys or contests
is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice
whether or not to disclose this information. In these cases,
we will give you the choice not to receive e-mail messages
or other communications from us regarding our products, services,
contests, and promotions. However, Europacafe.com may still
need to contact you to notify winners and to fulfill promotional
obligations.
In
addition, we may use information about you and your product
interests and purchases from us to help us improve our site
design and your online and in-store purchasing experiences.
We may contact you, subject to the choices you have made,
via e-mail, postal mail, or telephone, to conduct market research
and learn more about how we can improve our product offerings.
|
g. Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect
our users' information. When users submit sensitive information
via the website, your information is protected both online
and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks users
to enter sensitive information, that information is encrypted
and is protected with the best encryption software in the
industry - Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). While on a secure page,
such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web
browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet
Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open,
when you are just 'surfing.'
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive
information online, we also do everything in our power to
protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information
is protected in our offices. Only employees who need the information
to perform a specific job are granted access to personally
identifiable information. Our employees must use password-protected
screen-savers when they leave their desk. When they return,
they must re-enter their password to re-gain access to your
information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date
on our security and privacy practices. Every quarter, as well
as any time new policies are added, our employees are notified
and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy,
and what they can do to ensure our customers' information
is protected. Finally, the servers where we store personally
identifiable information are kept in a secure environment,
behind a locked cage.
We do not store customer credit card numbers
in our servers nor can any of our employees access this information.
|
h. Special Offers
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify
password and username. Established members will occasionally
receive information on special offers and daily specials.
Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the
option to decline these types of communications.
We provide you the opportunity to 'opt-out'
of having your personally identifiable information used for
certain purposes, when we ask for this information. For example,
if you purchase a product/service but do not wish to receive
any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate
your preference in the member account center.
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter
and promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving
them by following the instructions included in each newsletter
or communication or by emailing us in our contact form here.
[We offer an opportunity to opt-out of certain communications
on our my
account section, or you may contact us at 212-307-6187
or mailing us at 1776 Broadway, Suite 1500, New York, NY 10019
to opt-out.
You will be notified when your personal information
is collected by any third party that is not our agent/service
provider, so you can make an informed choice as to whether
or not to share your information with that party.
|
i. Correction/Updating Personal Information
You can review, change or delete certain personal
information (e-mail, password, name, address, phone number and
credit card information) related to your use of our online sites.
If any of a user's personally identifiable information changes
or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavor
to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal
data provided to us. This can be done by accessing the member
information page "my account" by clicking here
or by emailing our Customer Support at feedback@europacafe.com.
|
j. Notification of Changes
If our information practices change in the future,
we will post an updated policy on our website. You can tell
if the policy has changed by checking the revision date that
appears at the end of this policy. You may exercise your choices
about how we collect and use your information at any time.
If at any point we begin to use personally
identifiable information in a manner different from that stated
at the time it was collected, we will notify users via email.
Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their
information in this different manner. We will use information
in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information
was collected.
